…shall call his name…

…shall call his name…

This saying proves that God does not speak frivolously; He is very intentional about what He says, and He is not one to toy with your feelings. Everything that needs to be said concerning your situation and circumstance has already been said in His word. Because …all His promises are Yes and Amen in Christ Jesus. God has given us …all that pertain to life and godliness; everything you need has already been provided for. God is not saying anything new because all things are already new.

Then an angel of the Lord appeared to him, standing on the right side of the altar of incense. And when Zacharias saw him, he was troubled, and fear fell upon him. But the angel said to him, “Do not be afraid, Zacharias, for your prayer is heard; and your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you shall call his name John. It was a given; it didn’t really matter whether Zacharias believed or not, he was going to have a son, and his name would be John. The word of God had gone forth; it can never return to Him void; it must accomplish the purposes for which it was sent. Everything began to align to ensure the manifestation of the spoken word of God. Zacharias and Elizabeth’s age didn’t matter, nor the fact that Zacharias had become dumb and couldn’t even relay his experience.

Now in the sixth month, the angel Gabriel was sent by God to a city of Galilee named Nazareth, to a virgin betrothed to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David. The virgin’s name was Mary. And having come in, the angel said to her, “Rejoice, highly favored one, the Lord is with you; blessed are you among women!” ….Then the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bring forth a Son, and shall call His name Jesus. …Then Mary said to the angel, “How can this be, since I do not know a man?” …And the angel answered and said to her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Highest will overshadow you; therefore, also, that Holy One who is to be born will be called the Son of God. God had spoken; it was a done deal. It didn’t matter how humanly impossible it seemed, the Angel was already saying things about the Baby and the man Jesus, of the wonderful things He was going to do and who He was – the son of God.

God is too good and kind to toy with or play a joke on anyone’s feelings. He loves you too much to deceive you like that. If He won’t do it, He will not say it. What He says is what He does. Just imagine how devastated Zachariah would have been or Mary if it were all a lie, if they had been lied to. There is something God cannot do; He cannot lie, nor can He deny Himself. Once has he spoken… God does not owe anyone anything. He does not need to prove Himself, He is I AM, the ALMIGHTY!

In the same vein, God has spoken good concerning you. But you will never be able to appropriate these numerous blessings if you do not know Him. Zacharia was working in the temple. He knew God. Mary found favour in the sight of God, amongst the virgins of her time; there must have been something she was doing that endeared her to God. What you are doing is it endearing you to the heart of God or taking you farther away from Him?

Do you know God, or do you only just know about Him?

Knowing about God is not enough, particularly for the times that we are in. These are times of severe testing and trials and shakings. only the people …that know their God will be strong…

DO YOU KNOW JESUS?
