LAMBS IN THE MIDST OF WOLVES
“Go; behold, I am sending you out as lambs in the midst of wolves.”
One would wonder, why would a loving shepherd send out his lambs in the first place, away from the comfort of the stable, and to the midst of wolves! Does He not know the dangers out there? Is He not afraid for the safety of the Lambs? What can Lambs achieve on their own out in the wild? Or does He not love them? Does He not wish well for them? These and many more questions may arise at the hearing of the statement “Lambs in the midst of wolves…”
Jesus does not make mistakes, and He does not speak carelessly. He knows what He says and is well aware of the dangers. Yet, for Him to give this command means that obeying and going will be in the best interest of the Lamb. It doesn’t have to make human sense; in this kingdom, we don’t walk by sight but by faith. When the Master says go, we go! Because He has made available all that we will ever need to go on the mission and return successfully without fail or harm.
Do not reason out the instructions of God. He is the Master Planner and creator of the universe. Simply obey and leave the hard part to Him. He is more than capable. In obeying, we are not to copy the wolves, be influenced by them, or to maybe disguise ourselves like one of them. “…And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.” No, that is not the instruction. And we are not to go fearfully and timidly either, rather we are to go boldly, and simply; as Lambs, nothing more, nothing less; relying totally and completely on the Good Shepherd. The Good Shepherd is right there every step of the way, and He will equip the Lambs that rely on Him the way only He can. Jesus is the Good Shepherd; “I am The Good Shepherd…”
The only way you can fulfill purpose in this world is by staying with Jesus, you can never be lost, “…Those whom You gave Me I have kept; and none of them is lost except the son of perdition…” It doesn’t matter how imperfect you may be, or how the world treats you, as long as you stay with Jesus, you will be alright. “These things I have spoken to you, that in Me, you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”
Are you with Jesus?
