THE RED SEA!
“Don’t be afraid. Just stand still and watch the Lord rescue you today. The Egyptians you see today will never be seen again. The Lord himself will fight for you. Just stay calm.”
The Children of Israel, the whole host of them six hundred thousand footmen, not counting the elderly, the women, and the Children, after 400 years with an extra 30 years in slavery, were finally free and leaving Egypt with many spoils. Although freedom was so real, potent, and sweet, it also came with mixed feelings. Nevertheless, it didn’t matter, they were finally on their way. And to prove that it was indeed God’s will, they could see Him around and with them; during the day He was a pillar of cloud above them to shield them from the scorching sun, and at night, He was a pillar of fire in front of them to show them the way. Wao! This is going to be great! And already, the news had spread to other nations of how God brought them out of Egypt with a mighty hand, hence all the nations were afraid and in dread of them, so it was indeed a good start; everybody was happy, particularly the younger ones. But, wait a minute, what way is this that Bro. Moses is leading us through? isn’t that the Red Sea?
Then the king of Egypt was told that the people had fled, Pharaoh and his officials changed their minds about them and said, “What have we done? We have let the Israelites go and have lost their services! “So he had his chariot made ready and took his army with him. He took six hundred of the best chariots, along with all the other chariots of Egypt, with officers over all of them. The LORD hardened the heart of Pharaoh king of Egypt, so that he pursued the Israelites, who were marching out boldly. The Egyptians, all Pharaoh’s horses and chariots, horsemen and troops, pursued the Israelites and overtook them as they camped by the sea near Pi Hahiroth, opposite Baal Zephon.
Oh my! I knew it, I wasn’t feeling this move, I just knew that something would go wrong… As Pharaoh approached, the Israelites looked up, and there were the Egyptians, marching after them. They were terrified and cried out to the LORD. They said to Moses, “Was it because there were no graves in Egypt that you brought us to the desert to die? What have you done to us by bringing us out of Egypt? Didn’t we say to you in Egypt, `Leave us alone; let us serve the Egyptians’? It would have been better for us to serve the Egyptians than to die in the desert!” How are we supposed to crossover, we don’t even have boats, how many boats would even suffice? Was this the will of God? Surely it isn’t, shouldn’t the will of God be a smooth sail, without obstacle or hiccups.
”But Moses told the people, “Don’t be afraid. Just stand still and watch the Lord rescue you today. The Egyptians you see today will never be seen again. The Lord himself will fight for you. Just stay calm.”
He has started again, How! Ok, lets watch and see…
And indeed they did watch and they saw the miraculous wonder of the saving power of the Almighty God. You may be at a crossroads right now, and there seems to be no way out, and you are about to give up and just throw in the towel. Well, I have good news for you, God is still in the business of making a way where there seems to be no way.
