GRASSHOPPER COMPLEX
“…and we were like grasshoppers in our own sight, and so we were in their sight…”
Then Caleb quieted the people before Moses, and said, “Let us go up at once and take possession, for we are well able to overcome it.” But the men who had gone up with him said, “We are not able to go up against the people, for they are stronger than we.” And they gave the children of Israel a bad report of the land which they had spied out, saying, “The land through which we have gone as spies is a land that devours its inhabitants, and all the people whom we saw in it are men of great stature. There we saw the giants (the descendants of Anak came from the giants), and we were like grasshoppers in our own sight, and so we were in their sight.” Grasshopper Complex.
This kind of complex is not of God and not from God. The people who have this complex are the only ones that have it. They are the only ones who see themselves in this light, nobody else sees them this way, even the people they think do, do not. The people with this complex, often don’t even know they have it. And these people are always looking for an audience to win over to their side because they don’t believe they are enough, so they try to win converts to their side to gain momentum.
This is a lie concept, nothing about this concept is true. This concept is fed by fear, fear of past events as a result of trauma or failures from the past. It is anti the Word of God and those that peddle this complex usually receive the judgment of God. Because they are not ambassadors of the Kingdom. “And the men, which Moses sent to search the land, who returned, and made all the congregation to murmur against him, by bringing up a slander upon the land, Even those men that did bring up the evil report upon the land, died by the plague before the LORD. But Joshua the son of Nun, and Caleb the son of Jephunneh, which were of the men that went to search the land, lived still”. Not just the people that spread the lie, but also as many that believe the lies and now become ambassadors and also cha,pion the cause of spreading further lies and fear, they too are usually not left out of the judgment. “..Say unto them, As truly as I live, saith the LORD, as ye have spoken in mine ears, so will I do to you: Your carcasses shall fall in this wilderness; and all that were numbered of you, according to your whole number, from twenty years old and upward, which have murmured against me, Doubtless ye shall not come into the land, concerning which I sware to make you dwell therein, save Caleb the son of Jephunneh, and Joshua the son of Nun. But your little ones, which ye said should be a prey, them will I bring in, and they shall know the land which ye have despised. But as for you, your carcasses, they shall fall in this wilderness…” Therefore it is very important what you attend your ears to, what you listen to, does it conform with the Word of God, is it building your faith?
If you do not believe the Word of God or the vessel He is using, It is usually better to keep your mouth closed, than to spread lies and get converts as a result. This is likened to witchcraft because if you are causing people to rebel against the Word of God, God’s judgment will come upon you.
