ARE YOU HUNGRY?

ARE YOU HUNGRY?

"...Then Jacob gave Esau bread and lentil stew, and he ate and drank and rose and went his way. Thus Esau despised his birthright".

Hunger is when one has a craving or an urgent need to satisfy a strong urge or desire. And it could be for either nutrients, food, sex, drugs, power, money, fame; the list could go on and on. People tend to hunger for what is not at their immediate disposal. The lack of it, or not being able to satisfy that hunger, sometimes triggers an uneasy sensation, a strong craving that must be met; sometimes at all cost or at any cost. (For Example, King David he was supposed to be at war like other Kings were at that time; moreover, he was King, and could have had whatever he wanted, yet he hungered for someone else’s wife “… David arose from his couch and was walking on the roof of the king’s house, that he saw from the roof a woman bathing; and the woman was very beautiful. And David sent and inquired about the woman. And one said, “Is not this Bathsheba, the daughter of Eliam, the wife of Uriah the Hittite?” So David sent messengers and took her, and she came to him, and he lay with her”).

The actions people take in order to satisfy their hunger cravings, could sometimes cause them to act irrationally or make irrational decisions that maybe regretted in the long run. “…In the morning it happened that David wrote a letter to Joab and sent it by the hand of Uriah. And he wrote in the letter, saying, “Set Uriah in the forefront of the hottest battle, and retreat from him, that he may be struck down and die.”

Sometimes, it is not enough to have it, because many people have amassed so much in an effort to satisfying their hunger, yet it is never enough. What then, is the solution for hunger? Is it to feed more? I really don’t think so. Because some people are even now obese, yet it hasn’t stopped them from eating. Some are now addicts to their cravings and desires, yet they are not satisfied.

What then, can truly satisfy hunger?

It is very important that you are not hungry in your soul! Because if you become hungry, you’d want to eat, and there is a possibility that food may not be readily available at the time, and you may be willing to eat anything, not minding it’s health benefit. if you do not eat as quickly as you should or want to, problems may arise, which may become complications that would pose an health challenge, and if not properly managed, could result in death.

In order to eat and be full, you should eat of the BREAD OF LIFE, “Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in me shall never thirst”.
